Open House becomes Magic Academy
Wizards of the Coast has revamped Open House events and created the Magic Academy, with more resources and activities to attract new players-and the best part is, you can host as many events as you want!
- Learn to Play: Designed to introduce new players to the fantastic world of Magic The Gathering. You’ll have everything you need with Magic The Gathering – Foundations Beginner box. Plus, you can invite veteran players to share their experience with the new generation.
- Deck Building: Players will learn the basics of deck building, a perfect activity to get started in Limited formats. Experienced players will be able to guide new players through their first steps.
These events will not only help new players learn, but also give them a chance to practice their first friendly games.

Celebrate Jumpstart 2025 Festive Play Days
Between November 29, 2024 and January 5, 2025, you can celebrate a special event with MTG Foundations – Jumpstart Holiday Play Days! When you want to offer your players a quick Magic event, you can use this format with Jumpstart Foundations booster packs, for an experience that lasts less than half as long as a regular in-person event.
Jumpstart Foundations is a fun format for veteran players, but at the same time, it’s accessible to anyone just starting out. Each Jumpstart Foundations booster pack contains 20 cards, including at least one card brand new to Magic and all the lands needed to build a Jumpstart deck. In each booster pack you’ll also find a theme card, which lists the deck list and the name of the booster’s theme.
